Why I Dance:

When I was a little girl I wanted to be a dancer so my parents brought me to a ballet class. But very quickly during that class I realized that I don't look like the other ballet girls. It was clear that I don't have a dancer's body and thus, cannot be a dancer. A few decades later I discovered ecstatic dance and the power of free expression through movement: it has been one of the most healing modalities on my journey of reclaiming my freedom, my joy and a wholesome connection to my body. Ecstatic dance has been my therapy, my prayer and my liberation. Every time I step onto the dance floor, I take my inner little one with me and together we reclaim what a dancer looks like.
